Muskegon County Right to Life
“March & Memorial for Life”
We remembered the 39th anniversary of Roe v Wade with our annual “March & Memorial for Life” on Saturday, January 21, 2012. The peaceful March began at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1215 E. Apple Avenue. We walked to the abortion clinic, Women’s Medical Services, said a prayer, and returned to the church for warm refreshments provided by the Church. The prayerful Memorial for Life followed in the church.
The day was blessed with sunshine and over 150 people at the March and Memorial. Special thanks to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church for their strong prolife support in our community, and their hospitality in opening their church to us.
We want to thank our speaker, Tonja Schoonbeck from Muskegon Pregnancy Services, for sharing her personal experience with us. Tonja works with MPS to provide “Surrendering the Secret”, a Bible study designed to heal the heartbreak of abortion.
Without question, abortion can be one of the most traumatic experiences in a woman's life. Surrendering the Secret is a powerful 8-week study that helps hurting women find the path to healing through honest, interactive Bible study. You will be encouraged and supported as you allow God into rooms of your heart that might have been sealed for too long. It's time to heal. All you need is to be willing.
43% of women have had an abortion in their past. Others have helped someone get an abortion. As a result, many of these women daily carry the pain and feel alone.

“Life Saver Drive"
Each year several area churches participate in our annual “Life Saver Drive” fundraiser by collecting donations at their church. This money is used to support our Muskegon office. Here's what we do:
-
Provide pro-life educational material, bumper stickers, window clings, books and films
-
Provide qualified pro-life speakers to schools, churches, organizations and civic groups
-
Publish a quarterly newsletter
-
Encourage the support of pregnancy service groups
-
Maintain a web site to share the pro-life message in a timely manner (http://www.muskegonrtl.org)
-
Conduct membership drives and various fundraising events to support the efforts of our local and state Right to Life offices
Would you be willing to particiapte?
Here's all you'd need to do:
- Obtain approval from your Minister to schedule a collection at your church.
- It is extremely helpful if the Minister will announce the collection, and encourage support for the prolife cause. (Many churches coordinate it with the “Respect Life” theme in October.)
- Some churches take up a collection during the service, while at others donations are collected at the doors as people leave. Envelopes are also available that can be mailed in with donations.
- We'll provide you "life saver" candy and donation envelopes.
If you're interested, please call our office at (231) 733-6300 and we'll make arrangements to get our "life saver" candy and donation envelopes to you. Thank you for your generous support!
